Interviews
Today they probably played a killer show at Summer Breeze, but about a month and a half ago, a decade after our first conversation at Tuska, we met up with Stam1na for a genuine full-circle interview about creativity, longevity, Finnish metal and the passion that still drives them after eleven albums.
Eight years after our first conversation, we sit down again with Author & Punisher in Helsinki. Tristan Shone talks machines, migration, volunteering and why electronic music should still be played live.
Banshee just kicked off her very first European tour in Helsinki, and we sat down with her before stepping on stage. From fairy metal and mythology to vulnerability, empowerment, and turning concerts into communal rituals, she talks about bringing her world to Europe properly for the first time.
French electronic artist SIERRA VEINS brought her dark, atmospheric sound to Helsinki in December for the final show of her 2025 tour. We caught up with her to talk about identity, transforming darkness into strength, why visuals come before the music and how her latest album has come alive on stage!
Three months after the album release, we caught up with Johannes Eckerström again, the third time in about half a year now. We talk about their touring since we last met, from punk rock chaos on a Caribbean cruise to butchering his first live piano chorus in front of 8,000 people and how thankful he is how much people still care about Avatar.
Nearly 30 years in, Chthonic still see their music as a journey, one rooted in Taiwanese history, melody, and emotion. Just before a rare live appearance at the cultural exchange event Formosa:Finland:Fest in Helsinki, we spoke with the band about culture, tradition, and letting music speak for itself. Thanks to Ginger Vine Management & PR for setting this up!
At Tuska 2025, one of the local acts on the KVLT Stage on the last day was The Vantages. We sat down with Henkka, guitarist and vocalist of the Finnish heavy metal band Tyrantti, to not only talk about their Tuska show and latest music, but to dive into their upcoming ‘Lihaa mattoon!’ event on July 12 in Helsinki where they are collaborating with FCF Wrestling to put together a highly entertaining evening filled with wrestling and heavy metal!
At Tuska 2024, we had a quick chat with Lotta from Luna Kills about their first ever show at the festival, how they’ve been doing since we last talked a couple of years ago, their first tour outside of Finland in support of Dear Mother and hints at what’s next…
We met up with Dante, Gian and Pavel from the Mexican metal outfit Anima Tempo while they were in Finland and talked about their present European tour, which also will take them to our own venue Asgaard in Belgium, their unique take on their music, trying to find some new approaches every time both in recordings and live, how they love the energy from the European crowds and what they’re working on of new music and concept!
